Sentimental Season's Greetings CTC#493

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING the Sentimental Christmas suite, and my inspiration is the card on the bottom right.

Hopefully you can really see where the inspiration comes from!!  I've used different colours and used a punch for the central image, but it's pretty similar!

I've focused on the paper and fussy cut all the candle images rather than stamping and colouring, so my card is much simpler!

I've also added the Dotty embossing folder too because the card did look a bit too simple.

And I just love this greeting from the Greetings of the Season stamp set!!

Christmas Bird inspiration Colour INKspiration #176

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

This is actually an Australian bird - the pink robin and the colours are just amazing!

I'm in my Christmas Cardmaking season, so every card I create at the moment is ultimately going to be a Christmas Card - and when I saw the colours and inspiration picture this week, initially I was very stumped!!  I have some Christmas trees cut out on my desk that did NOT make it to my project!!

Ultimately I went with the inspiration pic (again! - I find it really helps my mojo go!!) and pulled out the lovely Winterly Tree Tops and the colours of the project which got me started!!  I HAVE chopped off the top of the birds heads though so that they look more like robins!

I love the addition of the Festive glimmer paper cut out with the Golden Greenery dies.  And after I added this lovely foliage, then I really HAD to make a slimline card to fit in all the imagery!!

The greeting comes from the Trucking Along stamp set - something simple and quiet so those gorgeous birds and fronds are totally centre stage!!

And then I remembered the lovely In Colour glimmer paper which features the Petunia Pop, so that made it's way to my project too!  Check out some more inspiration with these colours on our page!

Merriest Trees Bundle CTC#492

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING any bundle from the Annual Catalogue.  The landing page has some lovely cards which are a great starting place for inspiration.  I like the white space of the card in the centre with the focal image right in the middle.

I saw a fantastic video by Sara Douglass of Stampin' Up! showing heat embossing on glimmer paper and really wanted to try it!!  So here is my card using that technique with the Merriest Trees Bundle.

The greeting on the front is actually part of a complete greeting but I only wanted the words at the bottom.  So I added some washi tape to the stamp over the words I did not want, inked the image with Old Olive ink, removed the washi tape and then stamped just the words I wanted.

The background for my card comes from the fabulous printed vellum which shows through the Basic White card base beautifully.

The front panel is just 5 cm wide but it allows the focal image to shine on the front while also allowing the gorgeous vellum to show off.  And the stars were die cut from Silver Foil and come from the Merriest Trees dies.

Here's the amazing video showing this great technique with the embossing on glimmer paper here

Scraplifting my friends!!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Today is Scrapbooking Global day!! Each month we share some great inspiration for you1!

This month the lovely Tina has given us a fabulous challenge!

I think scraplifting is the same as CASEING - and I'm a huge fan of both strategies as sometimes you just need inspiration from your friends!

I just HAD to scraplift Tina herself!!  I love ths simplicity and gorgeousness of her page!

And of course I wanted to add my own spin to her page too!!  AND I wanted to try some NEW crafting products.  These are coming next month - the gorgeous Happy Hibiscus Hybrid folder and stamp set - although if you want them NOW, you can add them to your starter kit with the AMAZING joining special happening THIS MONTH!! Click here for more information or contact me here

My base card is some of the new Two Tone Pool Party paper which allowed me to use the lighter tone as my background.  And look at these STUNNING embossed flowers!!  This stamp set AND dies AND embossing folder all coordinate SPECTACULARLY!!  I love it.

The first step for my page was to create a circle on my background using my largest dinner plate and scoring around the edge using a stylus tip.  I then stamped fronds from the Painted Lavender stamp set with Mossy Meadow.  And then stamped some cute dots from Regal Flora with Soft Sea Foam and then the cross hatch stamp from the Happy Hibiscus with Lemon Lolly ink.

I've coloured the centres of my flowers using Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends.  The outline has been stamped with Crumb Cake.  And after I'd cut them out and mounted them on my page I added some Metallic Enamel Effects (gold).  These lovely die cut Mossy Meadow leaves also come from the Happy Hibiscus dies.

I did use Tina's lovely idea for the double label from the Regal Flora dies, but I had to put it in a different place because I wanted to cover another person in the photo that isn't in our family!!!  haha
The lovely page title of "you Make me Smile" comes from the Happy Hibiscus stamp set which is part of the Online Exclusives offering next month.  Demonstrators can order it early which is fabulous!! If you'd like to order early, consider joining my amazing Team Handmade - especially as we have a BRILLIANT  EXTRA VALUE joining promotion for October!  Find out more here.

I really hope YOU are inspired to try this!!
Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of AMAZING projects!!
