Do you love the bundles? Here's my favourite this time CTC#489

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING a project in the Bundles Chapter of the Mini Catalogue.

It might be a bit of a stretch, BUT my project inspiration did come from the layout of the three trees in the bottom left of the image for Decorative Trees on page 42 of the Mini Catalogue.

I've made 3 versions of the same card using 3 different colour ways.

The background papers for my trio of trees image is the Regal Distressed Patterns paper which comes in 3 different designs.

And inside the card is a fun pop up from the centre of one of the gold dipped cards and envelopes folded inside out!

Here's the Garden Green version.

Combined with the white design of the Regal Distressed patterns

And I think this Cherry Cobbler version is actually my favourite.

Creating the pop up inside the card was fun!!  I folded the card inside out, and folded it into a concertina.  Then I've added little hinges on either side of the centre fold of the card to mount my pop up images.

Which is your favourite?

A book of flowers - soooo pretty!! Colour INKspiration #174

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

Check out these gorgeous colours this week AND the stunning image which really inspired me!

The flowers in the book really spoke to me, so I've embellished one of our lovely Book Treat Boxes.

These boxes are so easy to put together with adhesive already on them ready for assembly.  They also have adhesive on the clasp too, but I don't want the box to be torn apart when it's opened, so I've created a clasp on the front of the 'book' using one of the dies from the Peacefull Everygreens dies - this die is actually part of the assembly for a bow, but works fantastically for the clasp!!

The cover for the book is created with some of our new Two Tone Pool Party cardstock.  I spritzed it and scrunched it and then added Pool Party ink using a blending brush to create a Faux Leather look.

I was totally inspired by Rose and her gorgeous project here to add extra cardstock to the spine of my card which I have again added ink with a blending brush for a vintage look.

There are a lots of dies used for this project - I've used the Peaceful Season dies for the title/label at the top of the book, and used Lovely and Sweet dies for the teeny flowers and Country Flowers dies for the larger flowers.

Also inspired by Rose, I've added some more silver foil to the edges of the box making it looks like embossed page edges.

The stamping comes from the Peaceful Seasons stamp set, and I just could NOT resist stamping inside too for a lovely surprise when the box is opened!!

Do you love an interactive card? Shaker cards are so fun!! CTC#488

This week, we are CASEING a technique in our catalogue and I've had a brilliant time creating shaker cards recently.

I was inspired by the triple window shaker card on page 123 of our Annual Catalogue.

My card features the Thoughtful Journey designer paper along with the Thoughtful Wishes bundle.

These loose champagne iridescent dots make a fabulous noise when you shake the card!!  And the gorgeous Thoughtful Journey paper peeking throught the back looks wonderful!

The Stylish Shapes dies made cutting the 3 windows easy and can you see the lovely texture in the wood grain for the front of the card?  It's just fabulous and is on page 100 of the catalogue and is easily missed!  Oh, and I actually recycled the acetate off our photopolymer stamps for my window sheet detail!

Inside is some simple stamping and the left over designer paper because it's too pretty to waste!

I really hope you'll give this a go one day - shaker cards are just so much fun!!
