Do you love a sketch?

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn

Tonight I'm joining with the CASEING the CATTY crew.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything  or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Catalogue.

This week, we are CASEING a sketch form page 68 featuring butterflies.

I've decided to use this sketch for a card featuring the great Adventurous Sky.

I've used 2 of the designs from the coordinating Take to the Sky designer paper and then added the plane across the diagonal line where the butterflies went.

There is actually only 1 plane facing this direction, so my little plane on the right of the card is actually stamped using a mirror image technique.  I inked the stamp and then stamped onto a silicon mat.  I then added cardstock over the top to transfer the image from the silicon mat to the cardstock.  Once it was coloured in, it was hard to tell that the image had been stamped from the silicon mat!

My card is also a bit of a fun fold with the front panel following that fun diagonal line.

I hope you try this sketch too!!

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great projects.  Up next is Rochelle!

Autumn Love with Frosted Forest Sneak Peek

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn

Tonight I'm challenging myself with these bright colours!!

The Colour INKspiration challenge comes up with some stunning images and colour combinations to try!!

I was VERY stumped for a long time with these colours, but finally I saw the Autumn tones in them, AND I have a new stamp set and MASKS that worked so beautifully for these colours.

Looking at the photos now though, perhaps I should have left my birds to be white - they would stand out a bit more.

But I DO love how the trees turned out and they were so quick and easy to colour using blending brushes and the coordinating Frosted Forest masks.

Inside the card is a continuation of the masking.

What would you create using these colours?

INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy. Firstly, get some INKspiration by checking out all of the creations of the Colour INKspiration Crew in the challenge album on our Facebook page. Then you have 12 days from today to make and upload your creation to the Facebook Colour INKspiration Group. You don't have to have a blog to participate but if you do you can link back to your post. Make sure you use all of the challenge colours. You can also use neutrals such as Basic White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Beige and Basic Black as well as Metallics.

Country Flowers inspiration CTC#475

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn

Tonight I'm hoping with the CASEING the CATTY team. To CASE is To Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit, and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues.  (CATTY)

This week, we are CASEING from the wonderful gorgeous Country Woods Suite - which has been an absoloute favourite suite of mine!!

My card this week is a simple verson of the one on the left bottom of the spread.  I've flipped it on the side and made it a little simpler - but basically the same!

I used some masking paper for the bucket on the stool and then fussy cut the whole image out after colouring.

I do like the Everyday Details die cut circle in the background!  I've used it inside the card too!

I hope you're inspired!!  Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great projects!!
Here's the amazing Rochelle.

And check out our Facebook page here for inspiration too.

Scrapbooking using scraps!!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Today, I'm joining in with the amazing Scrapbooking Global group inspiring you every month with scrapbooking genius from an awesome group of scrapbookers!

This month, the theme is about using your scraps.  Please welcome our Guest Designer Elaine Wheeler Wright whos shares her theme for our hop - one I sure we can all relate to - Use your Scraps.  What a great theme!!  I cannot wait to see what everyone creates.

As I knew we had this theme coming up, I've been saving some of my scraps from a recent class - all these pieces are off cuts from the Country Woods paper and as they are all from the same collections, it actually made it very easy to Use my Scraps!!

They created an awesome background for my page!!  And the colours worked so nicely together too!

I've also used some of the gorgeous Flowering Ephemera and Something to Say Ephemera for the elements on my page.

And this little birdhouse was a half made scrap sitting on my crafting desk too - so even though he has nothing to do with the page or photos, on he went!!  I DO love this birdhouse set sooo much!  I love the dies and the stamps used with the glorious Country Woods paper.

My final touches to the page is some of the splatter stamp from the Country Birdhouse set to continue the Crushed Curry colour theme.

Last of all are some glossy dots.....because I like them!!  Here is a video showing a preview of the thought process for this page (without the scrap elements!!)

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots more amazing projects using those SCRAPS!!
