Dragonflies for SUO Challenges

Hello and Welcome to our awesome challenge featuring Dragonflies and Butterflies!

I'm on the team at SUO!

We are a group who holds challenges for you to use your Stampin' Up! products only - SUO.

And there ARE SO MANY CHOICES for our challenge this time!!  Stampin' Up1 has a beautiful collection of stamps and images featuring dragonflies and butterflies
(secretly, I think I own them all!!!)

This lovely card features Dragonfly Dreams, and I've used a lovely colouring technique for my background and the dragonflies.

The background was created by inking the H block with Soft Sky and Lemon Lime Twist ink at the top and bottom of the block.  I then misted all over the ink using my Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and stamped the colour onto my shimmery white cardstock.

The dragonflies were inked up using Old Olive ink, and then I rolled the image around the edges into Emerald Envy ink to create the lovely toned wings.  I then used the Clear Wink of Stella brush on the dragonflies to drag the colour around on the wings and make them SPARKLE!
And it looks just GORGEOUS!!

I've added half an Eastern Gold Sticker flower under the greeting which has been mounted onto some Lemon Lime Twist ribbon.  My final bits of sparkle are some gold sequin trim and gold enamel shapes - so so pretty.  If you know me, you will know I'm rather partial to green - so I REALLY  like my card!!  I've used Soft Sky for the base, and Lemon Lime Twist with Emerald Envy cardstock layers under my stamped piece.

Now, it's time for you to get your creative dragonfly and butterfly juices going and add your project into our gallery for the challenge.  Just head to our blog using the link above.

Until Next Time,
Happy Stamping,
Love Julia.   x

  1. What a stunning card, Julia. I love that stamp set and enjoy seeing the way others use it. Your beautiful background really sets off the dragonflies. I'm also going to have to try that rolling technique. It certainly makes the wings extraordinary, combined with the Wink of Stella. Simply lovely!

    1. Thankyou so much Heidi. I'm so glad to hear when someone else loves a card as much as I do! I was super thrilled with the sparkle and these colours.
