This week at Just Add Ink, the challenge involves using this sketch.

This is a Mothers Day Card but I decided to give it a generic greeting to give it some flexibility. I really loved watercolouring the flowers though, and got so carried away I made doubles of the tulip heads and then fussy cut them and popped them over the top to give the flowers more dimension! What was I thinking! Lots of fussy cutting, but it sure looks great!!!
The rest of the card is basic layering with a similar theme using the hardwood stamp and the woodgrain embossing folder.
A bit of burlap finished the card for the banner part of the sketch.
This is really lovely Julia! I love the earthy feel to your card with the colours and textures you've used. Your flowers are coloured perfectly and look fabulous raised up to give more dimension. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Narelle, for your lovely comments!!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is really beautiful, Julia. I, too, love the rustic background in contrast to the beautiful bright tulips. The texture and dimension on your card is just lovely. Thanks for joining in the fun at Just Add Ink. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow I love the colouring and you've really added dimension by popping the tulips up on them selves.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing with us at Just Add Ink.

ReplyDeleteThank you Kim. I love these tulips too. And I am a neutrals girl so the background was in my comfort zone! Teehee.
